Room labels for a move with a separate storage load
When some belongings go to the next home and others go into storage, a clear label needs to communicate the destination before it communicates the room.
Write the destination first
Use plainly written labels such as new home or planned storage. Add the destination room and a useful contents description underneath. If you use colors, keep the words as well; a color may be covered, faded or misunderstood.
For similar furniture, add a photo reference or a unique description. List the same description on the inventory. A tall oak dresser and a small white dresser are easier to distinguish than two entries both labeled bedroom.
Keep the storage record useful
Ask the team how the stored inventory is recorded and what details help with eventual redelivery. Keep your own copy with the collection date and contact details. Send changes before loading, especially if a piece originally marked for storage will now be delivered.
Long-term crated storage involves planned collection and delivery arrangements. Discuss how access works rather than assuming you can walk in to retrieve a carton. Keep documents, medication, valuables and daily-use belongings outside that load.
Plan the first night in the next home
Choose the beds, seating, work essentials and kitchen items that need to arrive immediately. Mark an essentials kit and keep it in your own care when practical. The storage label should never be a substitute for deciding what you need during the transition.
Give the person meeting the crew a copy of the room plan. Use the same room names on doors and cartons, and agree where empty packing materials should be gathered if unpacking help is part of the request.
